Mission, Vision & History

Mission

The Center for Teacher Success improves the academic achievement of Arizona students by elevating the professional performance of their teachers and education leaders.

Vision

All K-12 students in Arizona schools will achieve their full academic potential because they attend schools where teachers are both competent and confident in maximizing the intellectual development of every learner.

History

The organization began in the early 1980s as a teacher outreach program of the Arizona Mining Association. Since then its scope has expanded to include a comprehensive portfolio of professional development services for teachers and educational leaders around the state. In 2002, the program became a 501(c)(3) nonprofit corporation known as the Arizona Foundation for Resource Education (AFRE). In 2010, AFRE was renamed the Center for Teacher Success to reflect its commitment to promoting the critical role teachers play in helping their students achieve their full academic potential.
